My greatest hope for women
Is that they feel beautiful as they age
As the crinkling silk of their skin
Tears
As their visual patterned tapestry
Once so prized
Fades
As their body texture
Once so luxurious
Hardens and thins
As their graceful silhouette
Sags and bunches
Once they were proud of their beauty
But as they age
They become invisible.
It’s not fair to them.
They have spent a lifetime
Perfecting their spirit.
Let that become more visible
And valuable than thick shiny hair
And clear eyes
And two good feet
And let our taste change to
Appreciate patina and unique craftsmanship
Like the tea ceremony
Honors imperfection.
